Biography and Background
Sallie Deen is enthusiastic about the quality of life in the Auburn community. She always shares her love of the area with those new to Auburn and Opelika.
She is in the “people business”, and not just the real estate business. Her success depends not just on technical expertise and skills, but also on personal relationships and serving her clients’ best interests. She prides herself on skillfully negotiating the intricacies of each transaction. She sees opportunities for resolution where others see problems.
Born in Thomaston, Georgia, she married her high school sweetheart, Rusty Deen, who later played football for legendary Auburn Coach “Shug” Jordan. Five years after graduating from Auburn, Rusty and Sallie returned to Auburn to serve as Resident Counselors at Sewell Hall, where they lived for the next 12 years. Sewell Hall was Auburn’s athletic dormitory for varsity Football and Basketball team members.
During their time at Sewell Hall, they were “dorm parents” to Auburn athletes Bo Jackson, Charles Barkley, Frank Thomas, Chuck Person and hundreds of others. Sallie and Rusty hold a special place in the hearts of these former Auburn players.
In addition to their “Auburn children”, they have a daughter, Hillarie, who thinks of these former players as her “big brothers”. Hillarie is now a senior art student at Auburn.
Sallie holds a Finance degree from Auburn, and Rusty holds both Auburn Marketing and Building Science degrees. Rusty has served as the Executive Secretary of the Auburn Football Lettermen Club for over 35 years and Sallie is the club’s “Volunteer-in-Chief”! They have made promoting all things Auburn their lifes’ work.
Sallie began her real estate career in Gainesville, Georgia in 1976 and resumed it in 1998 when she and Rusty developed Waverly Park – a successful and thriving condo and residential community in Opelika. She has gone on to work in all areas of real estate development and sales.
Licensed through the Alabama Real Estate Commission, Sallie is a well-respected, positive, hardworking, and enthusiastic agent. She is a member of the Lee County Board of Realtors, as well as the National Board of Realtors. She is the winner of the 2012 Golden Key Award which is voted on by fellow Realtors, and goes to the Realtor they find most cooperative and who they most enjoy working with. In 2013, she received The Prudential Real Estate Honor Society award for sales achievement.
Sallie has a special place in her heart for young families starting out and often helps locate rentals for families until they are in a position to buy. She works just as diligently for these families as she does for her buyer and seller clients.
